History

History and Overview of The Pink Ribbon Foundation

In the eight years that The Pink Ribbon Foundation has served cancer patients in Colorado, the organization has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to men and women providing them services that their insurance does not cover.  Our goal is to improve their quality of life as they go through their cancer treatments.  The PRF funds are dispersed through the social workers and Department of Integrative Medicine in the form of grants and stipends.  Our funding runs out every single year.  We know that with your support, we can continue to grow the amount of money provided to the hospital in an effort to reach every patient in need.

Various times throughout the year, our volunteers help coordinate "Spa Days" at the hospital, where we bring in massage therapists, nail techs, entertainment and food to the same area where patients are undergoing chemotherapy drips.  The patients return day after day to let their bodies slowly absorb the medicine; it is on spa day, that the scene is transformed allowing them to be pampered during their otherwise routine - and sometimes painful - procedure.

One of our first donations in our early years helped transform the "mammography changing room" from a cold, steel locker room type setting into a more welcoming, comfortable area for women to change into gowns prior to their procedure.  There is a beautiful plaque on the wall today in that area honoring the woman who inspired her grandaughters to start this organization, Virginia Grace Kuhlemeyer.

At first glance, passers by or visitors to our web site often confuse us with other breast cancer non-profits who raise money to create awareness and fund research in an effort to stop the disease.  We are so grateful there are other organizations out there covering that niche; ours however, is to help improve the quality of life for those already diagnosed and undergoing treatment.

We appreciate your support by making a donation to support the PRF online, by attending our annual Power of Pink FUNDRAISING GALA, or by making an in-kind donation of goods or services allowing us to auction it off at the event.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation is a 501-C-3 organization (IRS E.I.N. #84-1595000)
